There’s a myriad of benefits to attending a faith-based university, but as a prospective student or parent, where do you start? With a different sticker price than public institutions, you might have questions about the unique value points of attending a Christian university.
However, there are countless benefits to choosing a faith-based college education. These benefits last a lifetime and set students up for an intentional, integrated college experience and professional life.
Read on to see what you’ll find if you decide to attend a faith-based university.
You’ll Experience Biblical Integration at the Heart of Every Program
If you’re pursuing a college education at a faith-based institution, you’re most likely looking for a curriculum that aligns with your values and incorporates the Bible into your classes. Integrating biblical truth and Christian principles in your coursework is crucial, especially at such a formative time in your life as your college years. Learning how to incorporate your faith into what you’re learning in your academic program will give you a firm foundation in integrating your beliefs with your life and career.
Cairn University integrates a biblical worldview into each of its academic programs. Many student organizations also prioritize a biblical foundation and are interested in pursuing their extracurricular interests through a biblical lens. Every academic program includes 11 Bible and theology courses, so students receive focused biblical instruction as part of the already integrated programs.
You’ll Find Christian Community Around Every Corner
Humanity was not made to go through life alone and isolated. In fact, community is often encouraged and commanded in the Bible. Psalm 133:1 says, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!" and Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
God has instilled the need for community into every human being, and through that community, we can see more of God and grow closer in our relationship with Him. Christian colleges are often smaller and tighter-knit than larger public institutions, creating a natural opportunity for a deeper connection with peers and faculty.
But having friends you study with is not all there is to community; it is also essential to worship and serve with your peers and professors. Cairn University hosts chapels on Mondays and Fridays, with special Wednesday chapels throughout the semester. We treasure the privilege of coming together to worship and encourage one another. Our heart of worship in chapels extends to the local and global ministry opportunities in which our students participate At Cairn, you’ll learn how to live well in a Christian community and how to put your faith into tangible action.
You’ll Have Christian Mentors in Your Professors and RAs
The staff, faculty, and resident advisors at Christian colleges are believers themselves. The opportunity to study under wise men and women of faith and live with excellent examples of Christian character within resident halls is a gift.
At Cairn University, our professors care about students beyond their academic performance. You can often find professors sharing meals with students, offering advice, or praying with them. The role of faculty goes far beyond simply teaching classes for our professors, and they’re all invested in the lives of our students.
Within residence life, our resident advisors care deeply about those living in their halls and buildings. They’re intentional with their time toward them and often plan activities for the halls. RAs are available for prayer, advice, or just catching up, and they’re hand-picked by our student life team.
We’re committed to fostering space for Christian mentorship and individual encouragement at Cairn, and we’re proud to display how our campus lends itself to deep, authentic relationships.
